Our laboratory at UConn Health conducts research on the Neuroimmunology and genetic basis of the  interactions between immune and neural stem cells (NSCs). This knowledge is fundamental  for translation in neurodegeneration and  repair.  Our goal is to improve regeneration using neuroimmunology principles .  J Neuroimmunol. 2019 Jun 15;331:1-3

We focus on the effects of inflammation on neurons and NSCs and their CNS repair mechanisms  to find the next generation therapies for patients with Progressive Multiple Sclerosis (PMS)  and neurodegenerative diseases associated with neuroinflammation. Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A. 2019 Apr 30;116(18):8646-8648.

We use an integrative approach including neuroimmunological, developmental, genetics and cell biology  strategies in the highly collaborative environment and resources of UConn Health and  The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine.

Congratulations to UConn MSIV Shivam Patel for his manuscript acceptance in Journal of Neuroimmaging.

UCONN Health
